Helplines for adults who have been abused
H.N.O.K.
Hulp verlenings Netwerk voor Ouders van kinderporno
slachtoffers.
(Help Network for parents of child pornography victims)
Victims of child pornography carry their dreadful experiences
with them for the rest of their life. Besides the physical
scars, the phsycological ones are usually enormous.
They also often have to deal with society's misunderstanding,
unbelief and stigmatisation. These children need to learn
to cope with those feelings and attitudes. It is imperative
that they can rely on their parents/caregivers for help and
understanding. However, those parents/caregivers also need
to learn to live with what's been done to their child.
Until recently there was nowhere for the victims, or their
caregivers to go to find help. That is why in 1997 HNOK was
set up. HNOK offers help and support via the network of telephones
to parents of victims so that they, in their turn, can earn
the trust of, and give support to, their children.
HNOK is the initiative of the parents of child-abuse victims
with the co-operation of Amsterdam's Social Youth- and Morals
police.
INFORMATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF EXPERT KNOWLEDGE
HNOK offers tuition and training for schools, training-schools
and sports associations. Also to health professionals, other
support networks, police and justice departments.
As well, HNOK assists parents/caregivers in their efforts
to set up self-help groups.
FROM CENTRAL CO-OPERATIVE TO NATION-WIDE NETWORK
At the moment, HNOK in Amsterdam is the nation-wide
co-ordination point. Anyone can contact it with questions
about child pornography, support services, police and Jurisdictional
assistance etc.
The plans for the future are to create a nation-wide network
so that advice and transferences can take place fast and efficiently.
TELEPHONE HELP SERVICE

to each other via the telephone.
These people will have had training from Steunpunt Sexueel
